Volunteering in Football
Football Volunteer Projects
In many parts of our world, soccer - or football, however you want to call it - is by far the most popular sport. Especially in developing countries, it is a great way to combine education with fun and exercise and it has extremely positive effects of the kids' development.
How soccer helps children and youths
Many NGO's working in poor countries and critical neighborhoods use soccer as a way to bring kids together and give them the opportunity to play in a structured and friendly environment. They invite kids to after school programs where they improve education, raise health awareness and build life-skills. Sport is known to be a powerful tool to teach kids important messages in a different way to regular school education.
Soccer and football can serve as a medium to improve the life conditions of children and adolescents in poverty stricken regions with the aid of sports. After school activities and weekend programs help keep the teenage groups occupied and useful thus minimizing teenage excesses in critical areas. Teenage boys and girls who are idle may otherwise engage in social vices that may be detrimental to their health and the society as a whole. Many programs help occupy them productively and give them the opportunity to participate, develop their personality and advance their social skills.
The involvement of volunteers encourages more children to participate in sport and the training sessions. This is very important regarding their health and fitness, personal development such as learning team skills, and involving them in a positive activity in their free time.
