    About the program

    The project

If teaching is your career of choice, and you are looking for unique opportunities, you should consider an international teaching internship. Education is a crucial tool in helping the children of developing countries to have a brighter future, but an internship program can also benefit an ambitious professional who wants to make their job application stand out from the crowd.

We hope that by volunteering you will be able to help local children to improve both spoken and written English, as well as other more general skills, like computing. All volunteers must have good conversational English abilities and enjoy working with children. Previous teaching experience is highly valued but not essential for this placement.

    Introductory week

    Your placement will start with a Cultural Discovery Week, which will introduce you to the Balinese way of life, and prepare you for the rest of your placement. This week is automatically included in your placement. Your schedule will look like this;

    Monday
After our coordinator collects you from the airport, you’ll be taken to check in at your guest house. The day begins with a briefing to outline your program, and to tell you our house rules. You’ll be introduced to Bali on a walking tour of Monkey Street, the main commercial road in the city. There’ll be a welcome dinner, followed by a traditional Balinese dance in Ubud palace.

    Tuesday
After breakfast, you’ll be given a language lesson to teach you some key phrases. After that, you’ll go on a walking tour of the village, where you’ll get to experience how Balinese families live.

    Wednesday
After breakfast, you’ll be given a language lesson to teach you some key phrases. In the afternoon, you’ll go to a local batik shop, where you’ll learn how to draw, and paint your own batik designs.

    Thursday
You will be given a Balinese Cooking Class. You will learn to cook Balinese food. In the after noon you’ll learn how to make an offering to God, and the spirits of the Hindu religion. There will be a flower offering class, and you’ll be taught how to make a flower basket. You can use your flower offering in the next day.

    Friday
Spiritual Tour: We will bring your Flower offering to the Holy temple. We go to visit the famous temple " Pura Tirta Empul " the holy water temple and you can enjoy a shower with the Holy Water.
You’ll be free to enjoy your weekend however you choose, and you will start your volunteer placement on the following Monday!

    The location

Bali is an Indonesian island located in the Western region of the Lesser Sunda Islands, between Java, and Lombok. It is one of the country's 33 provinces with the provincial capital at Denpasar in the south of the island.

Bali is renowned for its diverse and sophisticated art forms such as painting, sculpture, woodcarving, handcrafts, performing arts and Balinese percussion orchestra music, known as gamelan. Balinese art often portrays stories from Hindu epics such as the Ramayana but with a heavy Balinese influence. Dancing is extremely prominent in local culture, and famous Balinese dances include pendet, legong, baris, topeng, barong, gong keybar, and kecak (the monkey dance). Bali boasts one of the most diverse and innovative performing arts cultures in the world, with paid performances at thousands of temple festivals, private ceremonies, or public shows throughout the year.

    About the project

We believe real change can happen when people find life-enhancing opportunities.

    Who we are

Global Nomadic empowers positive change by connecting people with projects

Global Nomadic was founded in 2008 with one clear goal – to empower change by connecting people. We believe real change can only come about when people are able to find the right opportunities with the right organisations. Over the past years, we have grown to offer high-quality international internships in a wide range of professional fields, but our aim is still the same; connecting people with projects.

We provide aspiring young professionals with exactly what is needed to set them apart in the very competitive world we live in. We exist to help you further your career through educational international work experience placements, but also to help NGOs around the world carry out their community-building work, by connecting them with you. By working with local NGOs, charities, and communities you will gain excellent experience and valuable skills, aiding you to further your ambitions – whilst making a difference where it’s needed most.

This world is not a perfect place – and we don’t claim to be able to fix it. But what we can do is provide a bridge between you and the people who can. Our mission is to work towards a better and more stable world by connecting people with projects. We believe we work better together than apart. We believe travel and exposure to other cultures, beliefs and ways of life are the best ways to achieve this. We believe you can travel the world and travel your career.

    What we do

We provide access to vetted, worthwhile international internships in a wide range of professional fields.

We work in a range of different fields from veterinary medicine and environmental conservation to journalism, public health, business development and education – matching you with reputable, worthwhile organisations around the world. Unlike many other volunteer organisations, we have personally visited and vetted our project partners, to ensure you a safe and worthwhile international experience.

We also choose to only work with partners whose projects contribute to their local community in a sustainable manner. We do not support, nor advocate orphanage tourism or irresponsible wildlife conservation projects. Our aim is to help our project partners focus on their core work by offering an easy way to find committed interns and volunteers to support their daily activities.

    Our volunteers

Global Nomadic is a trusted community meeting space connecting people with NGO projects around the world.

We also offer helping you to source and organise the best flights, insurance, visas and all the many other things you will need before you reach your project destinations, including country guides, packing lists and much more! We want to make sure that you have the volunteering time of your life.

Global Nomadic personally visits all volunteer sites to ensure a quality experience for volunteers. You will receive support before, during and after your placement.
