Our region is considered the homeland of Snow Shan tea, where the tea plant has its origins. There are still many mountains where tea grows "wild" and is harvested by people of the Baiyue tribes. This includes the Red Dzao, Tay, H'mong , Clao, La Chi, and Nung people. These people live in small, peaceful villages in the upper mountains where they harvest and produce precious tea from generation to generation.

Tea house of Baiyue tribes is for the collaboration of open-minded individuals. Persons in pursuit of the the truth and want to learn the fascinating facts about the Baiyue tribes who are holders of indigenous wisdom of tea and unique social customs.

Our mission is to inspire tea lovers to become advocates for our planet’s natural resources, cultural treasures, and local communities by experiencing life on the wild ancient tea mountains of the Baiyue tribes. We tackle the deep-rooted issues and some of the most complex challenges that both our tribes and tea lovers worldwide are facing through established partnerships between stakeholders.

As a member of Baiyue Tea Club, we partner with ethical, responsible organizations to inspire the world to protect the ancient Shan tea trees of Baiyue tribes.

The design of our immersion program is to allow you an authentic, meaningful, and inspiring experience. Over the course of the program, you may be asked to take part in a variety of tasks according to the needs of the season. Generally, you will be expected to work independently on components of tasks below:

    • Improve the life of local tea farmers by introducing livelihood models based on their indigenous knowledge of tea.
    • Raise awareness of the role that ancient Snow Shan tea trees play in providing income and food security for hill tribes. Reduce poverty and increase resilience to the impact of climate change.
    • Focus on building entrepreneurial opportunities for local youth. Empower them to start up local business and work off their own skill set.

As a participant in our program, you will have the opportunity to discover beautiful mountain sceneries and develop indigenous practices of the hill tribes. In addition, you may learn all the aspects necessary for starting a business of your own.

Typically, you will work 4 - 5 hours a day, four days a week.

The role you play will depend on the specialty of your skill set. This will likely involve working in house ( tea ceremony ) or at a similar designated space (work with local tea start-ups, local tea youtubers ). At times, you may be asked to help with physical labor, including but not limited to tea picking, making fermented tea products (Bamboo Tube Roasted tea, Puerh Tea Cakes, Peony tea, White tea, Red tea, etc.), making traditional paper from bamboo straw, cooking, helping with events for visitors and field education workshops for local youth, etc.

Please be prepared for the level of fitness this work requires and have appropriate clothing available for such work conditions. Also note that, depending on the season, it can be hot, humid, and buggy.

Note: WE DON'T WORK OUTSIDE ON RAINY DAYS: There is a dizzying mix of weather here, sometimes it is raining for a half of the month. We are citizen of Yin & Yang philosophical concept, Therefore we believe that working in the rain can cause slippery surfaces and limited visibility, and possibly cases of rheumatism disease. (There were some participants who complained  about this because while they took part in our program for just one week, it rained during the whole week!!! )

Hiking to Holy mountain of Red Dao: Located more than two thousands metters above sea level, surrounded by terraced fields, further away were villages of Baiyue tribes.  From the peaks, you will see a sea of clouds around the mountain. At sunrise the sky seems to be closer with so many clouds to nurture the imagination. Holy mountain of Red Dao with “the nine steps of cloud”. Here you can find many unique traditional cultural values of the Red Dao , Tay, H'mong, Nung people.

Trekking around Hoang Su Phi terraced fields (recognized as national heritage), through the entire area you will pass huge areas of rice terraces, unspoiled nature and ethnic villages.

Dong Van Karst Global Geopark Loop tour, designated by UNESCO as one of 77 sites with the important geological and cultural heritage. This geopark is littered with the ethereal karst formations that are nearly 400 million years old, and has two protected areas.

Researching in Nam Dan Old Stone Field, This thousand year-old stone field inside the valley of Nam Dan is not widely known by visitors, but the beauty of the runic symbols on the rocks are very fascinating. The rocks here vary in types and design. They bear marks of the traditional beauty of the old art, as well as weather-beaten traces after a thousand years. Each stone represents a legend of ethnic groups about religion and beliefs, and their worship to the God and Ancestors.
      Enjoy with Local Weekly Fair
Rather than a trading post, this is more of a cultural and communal activity. The market is held every Sunday. People come here to buy groceries, but mostly, this is the place for young people to meet up and have fun.
It looks like a festival more than a market. Therefore, boys and girls prepare to go to the market the night before in order to arrive on time. They try to look their best by putting on their most beautiful clothes.

            Join Shamanic, Ritual Events:

-The “Nhay lua” (fire jumping) ceremony of the Red Dao ethnic minority people in our region has been listed as a national intangible heritage.

            - Forest worship ceremony - special cultural heritage of Hmong, Nung, La Chi people: Apart from praying for a bumper crop and wealth, the forest worship ceremony of the Hmong, Nung, La Chi people is also meant to cultivate a love for nature and the awareness of environmental protection in the community.

Shennong worship events: The Vietnamese have been living as descendants of the Shennong family since ancient times. In modern times we still drink fresh tea leafs as Shennong did. He also taught us about farming and is the first to perform the plowing ceremony.  And we, Vietnamese, still perform the plowing ceremony during every lunar new year festival, thank giving for finish a crop with new rice products, both in families and national levels.

            Alimentos e Bebidas

            Food:

Local foods in seasonal: Vietnamese food is considered one of the healthiest cuisines in the world and this is due in part to a balance of nutrients like carbohydrates, fat, protein, minerals, and water., f I were to use one word to describe our traditional food, it would be “balance”. Balance is important in different aspects of its food like taste, nutrients, and presentation, and it does so by paying attention to five elements per aspect.

You will be noticed this Yin and Yang in Vietnamese food when you here

Drinks: We drink filter water not very often. We drink tea everyday, any time of the day with green tea, fresh leaves tea and for no specific reason.

Drinking tea is a custom in our culture, called "Tea To Talk".

The art of tea drinking in Việt Nam is simple but elegant, with features that are hard to find anywhere else in the world.

Drinking tea is a daily habit of Vietnamese, we must start a new day with some cups of tea in the morning to get more power for the whole day.

But bottles of filter water will be available if you require!
