    This program is designed to make the most out of education that is tailored to individuals with special needs. Volunteers in this program will be assisting and helping in the education of people with various mental and physical disabilities. The age range varies from teenagers to adults.


    With this program, we aim to support institutions, either private or state-owned, that aid in the care and development of individuals that are mentally or physically handicapped. Volunteers joining the special needs education program will be working alongside staff to maximize the opportunities for development of people in the project.

    As a volunteer, you will be helping to teach basic skills like handicrafts, basic home education, music, educational games, and workshops. You will also be helping staff to organize the project and to cook.

    Volunteers working in this program should be resourceful, patient and have a very happy disposition. People with backgrounds in psychology, therapy, and education are encouraged to apply to special needs program.

Costa Rica is considered a tropical country, but it features its own plethora of microclimates. Each of these destinations – which might be separated by only a few hours of driving – feature their own unique and unforgettable adventures. There are hot springs tucked away in lush rainforests, hanging bridges over misty cloud forests, palm-tree studded white-sand beaches, dramatic seaside cliffs, the arid rolling hills of Guanacaste – there’s no end to the experiences! Visit 

    Arenal Volcano and wonder at a massive volcano and surrounding verdant rainforest, and then the next day you might find yourself only a few hours away relaxing on Papagayo’s white sand beaches, watching the kids stand-up paddleboard, or kayaking among the mangrove jungles of Tortuguero.

    Minimum leeftijd: 18 jaar

    Om deel te nemen aan het programma dien je tenminste 18 jaar oud te zijn op de startdatum van het programma. Er kunnen uitzonderingen gemaakt worden indien je een bewijs van toestemming kan aantonen van uw wettelijke voogd(en) of samen met je ouders deelneemt.

    Je dient over volgende taalkennis te beschikken Engels (basis niveau) ou Spaans (basis niveau)

    One of our coordinator will pick you at the arrivals exit in the airport. The trip to San Ramón last around forty minutes

    Accomodatie

    Host family , in private room with two meals per day. Shared bathroom with the family. Normally the families have experience hosting volunteers. Hot water, probably wi-fi depending on the family.

    Integrated Learning Experiences was founded in 2005 by former Peace Corps staff that wanted to provide flexible volunteer programs with a positive impact.

    Integrated Learning Experiences’ (INLEX) mission is to strengthen human resources in Central America and South America through volunteer programs, educational travel and internship opportunities.

    In addition to this, INLEX provides opportunities for students and professionals to further gain experience in their field of choice by matching participants with the best opening available.

    INLEX was set founded by former Peace Corps staff in Guatemala in 2005 who wanted to provide flexible programs for volunteers in Central America. We do this because we believe in the principle that every volunteer can make a difference.

    Many years and happy people later, we continue working with key partner projects to develop communities in the Latin American region.
