    Make the ocean plastic-free and help preserve beautiful national parks in Costa Rica, educate visitors and protect wildlife.

    On this program, you will help in one of the greatest Marine National Park in Costa Rica. The park is home to endangered species such as monkeys, sloths, aras, sea turtles, and many types of birds and reptiles.     On this program, you will help in one of the greatest Marine National Park in Costa Rica. The park is home to endangered species such as monkeys, sloths, aras, sea turtles, and many types of birds and reptiles. The park is the starting point of many activities like hiking, dolphin tours, and horseback riding. As well a lot of tourists (international and local) coming every year to enjoy the beautiful beach and wale trail.
    During your volunteering, you will help to clean up the beach and public areas of the park, inform visitors and help in small projects, if requested by the ministry.

    As the park is open 6-days a week, please stay flexible with your working days. The park will plan you 5-days a week 4-6 hours a day. During your volunteering, you will stay in one of our amazing volunteer houses just some minutes' walk from the main entrance. Like this, you will get to know other volunteers from around the world and can spend your free time with them.

    • Helping with the operations at the national parks by educating visitors on the local wildlife and environmental protection 


    Free-time activities

    During your free time you can go to the beach. You can enjoy activities like hiking, climbing, trekking, horseback riding, relaxing on the beach, etc. Costa Rica does have great surf spots. Water sport activities are a lot around the project.

    During your free time you can go to the beach. You can enjoy activities like hiking, climbing, trekking, horseback riding, relaxing on the beach, etc. Costa Rica does have great surf spots. Water sport activities are a lot around the project.
    Close to the beach people sell souvenirs, other cities like Manuel Antonio or Dominical is close. As well you can do tours to waterfalls, which are close to your stay. One is in town, the other close to Dominical. We can recommend doing the tour on your own, as it is easy to get there.

    Minimum Age: 18 years

    In order to join the program you need to be at least 18 years old on the program start date. There might be exemptions if you can provide the permission of your legal guardian(s) or if your are accompanied by your parents.

    You need to speak English (intermediate level) or Spanish (basic level)

    Airport Pickup at Juan Santamaria International Airport

    Our team will pick you up at San Jose Airport. One of our team members will pick you up and bring you to the bus station in San Jose. On the bus, you will go direct to Uvita. Please take some cash for the bus with you. The bus costs US$10-15. The bus will take about 3,5 to 4 hours. We can organize a pick up between 6-11 am.



    Accommodation

    You will be in a volunteer house. Rooms are very well equipped and you will have a dorm room (double or 3-bed room), single rooms are available on request and with an extra fee. You will share the bathroom with other volunteers. Our travelers recommend the accommodation to 100%. The accommodation is about 10-15 minutes by bicycle from the project.

    Jamso Trainee startet in December 2012 helping in communities in Costa Rica. Costa Rica is since now the county with the most interns, volunteers and travelers.

    2015 we begin working with our partner Bali and Thailand.
