    About the program

This program was started during Corona as kids do reseived a lot of online classes and parents aren´t able to help a lot.We do need helping hands to offer to the kids to offer individual help to families. Many parents and families do not speak English and are not able to help the kids with their homework or pay to extra tutor classes. We do offer volunteer placements at the beach and close to the city. We would be happy for longer terms but also be happy to reseive you as short term volunteer!

You love children and you enjoy working with them? Then you are a perfect fit for our projects in Costa Rica. There is a huge difference between the school system as in Europe and the school system in Costa Rica. Most parents still do not speak good English or no English. As well many families are not able to pay a privat teacher to help the kids with all the materials. Theirfore we are looking for volunteers who are well organized and willed to help. As a volunteer you prepair your classes theirfore we do plan per volunteer 2-3 families by the same time. We highly looking for English Teacher and volunteers which are native speaker. Many adults do ask for classes, thats why we started as well to give to parents who do not have the income for privat class as well the option of classes in the evening.

A tipical day can be always different. Usually you do help families between 2-5 hours a day. We do set up small groups of 2-4 kids with you. Usually we do plan evvery children at least 2 times per week. Volunteers do help 5 days a week and do have 2 days a week off. As well we are open for volunteers who like to help 3-4 days a week. We would prefer longer term volunteers, as it would be a greater support for the kids.
Many hours are very flexible and depend on the volunteer and online classes of the student. It is very good to stay flexible.

    Holidays:

In the end of June/Beginning of July each year are 2 weeks holidays.

From mid-December to mid-January, schools in Costa Rica are closed and our program is also on vacation.

During my time in Uvita, I had the chance to meet regularly with 8 local children whose ages ranged from 6 through 12. I used different teaching strategies to best suit each child, keeping them interested and eager to learn. I would have liked, prior to my arrival, to have been more prepped on what ...
