About the program

About the Program

Volunteering with India is running a center for street children in India. Here we do our best to provide children who are found on the streets, traffic signals, railway stations and bus stands. Some children are sent by their parents to do activities like begging, vending, selling cigarettes and tobacco, peddling lottery tickets etc. At the end of the day they give their earnings to their families.

With the help of our team members and with the help of police  we are able to  bring these children in our center where we provide them with accommodation, food, education, personality development and many activities which a child needs for his growth.

This program was established in 2007 with the aim of helping and supporting children from difficult circumstances. The program focus is on runaways, orphans, street children, slum children in Jaipur.

Since the program started we have repatriated more than thousands of children & the number is still going. After repatriating them we keep in contact with them to see if everything is going alright with these children.

We run this program with our partner NGO which has local volunteers who take care of these children. One of our program coordinator will always be there at the program site to assist the foreign volunteers. Local volunteers are not good in English so the coordinator helps foreign volunteers in all stages.

Mission of the Project

Our mission is to provide the best care and protection for these children; to preserve and protect their childhood rights. To bring them back into society by providing them with their basic necessities for life.

Role of the Volunteer

You as a volunteer will be involved in activities such as teaching them basic English and mathematics, health awareness and personality development classes. Personality development includes talking about having a positive attitude towards life, self-esteem, manners, speaking and behaving in public etc. You will also be involved in activities related to art & craft work, such as drawing and henna painting. Health education programs such as the AIDS-awareness program make them be aware of health & hygiene tips and nutrition. Sports and games have also been organized by volunteers in order to develop their physical stamina; all these are very helpful in making their life better and in rehabilitating them.

Project Needs

Children in the project came here from the kidnapping gangs, some were left by their parents on railway stations, bus stations so they have a very sad past stories. Having volunteers with them at all time makes them happy and they feel that they have somebody taking care of them even if they don’t have parents. All the children in center are living together just like an orphanage house We do provide all education materials, food, accommodation facilities and sports equipment.

Employees

We run this project with our partner NGO which has local volunteers who take care of these children. One of our program coordinator will always be there at the project site to assist the foreign volunteers. Local volunteers are not good in English so the coordinator helps foreign volunteers in all stages.

About the project

VWI offers affordable volunteering in India programs for individuals/couples/families/groups and students to make a great contribution.

Meet your organization

Who we are?

Volunteering With India is a NGO Non-Profit Goverment Organization which is registered under Rajasthan, Indian Society Registration act 1958. VWI offers a unique combination of volunteering projects and action-packed adventure travel in a fun, safe, educational, and well-organized environment. Our main goal is to deal with problems concerning underprivileged women, orphanages, child care, work in rural areas, health programs for sick, dying & disabled people, theater workshops & elephant care.

We have a strong team of coordinators who run successful and effective volunteering programs. We work directly with local schools, people that live in rural areas, and orphanages. We make sure that each of our volunteering programs meets the high standard as expected and deserved by our volunteers. Safety is high on our priority list and we always make sure that you feel safe in all our placements.

Helping to Non-Profit Organisation's

Volunteering With India has as its founders a group of friends. With the help of our team members and volunteers like you we support local NGO's in their work for the development of community; we taught children in rural areas how to use the computers, and even their teachers, because part of them they did not know how to do it. We support working with street children, orphanage and the women empowerment movement. We also involved with aspects like theater education to school children and we were amazed in seeing the kids do so well in the drama we put in play. The Organization also deals with animal care centers.

All this work led to our desire to build an organization that can handle all this problems. Currently the organization is running successful volunteering programs in the city of Jaipur and in the rural areas that surround it. Our work is about helping children stay in school and give them a better education, and develop their talents, about helping women become more independent and be aware about their rights, about raising awareness about animal rights. We hope our work will help develop a more powerful, educated and aware society.

We welcome every person that wants to help us continue our work in the Indian society. Every help is needed and we hold great respect for every individual that wants to work in a volunteering program. The satisfaction that a person has in working for the benefit of humanity is the greatest one can hold.

Volunteer in India Mission

Our Mission is to create a worldwide network of volunteers that can help children in rural areas, the women empowerment movement in India, children that live in orphanages, the sick and disabled and animals. Our Aim will be to remove poverty and illiteracy from the country Volunteer in India with us! We invite you to become a life time member of VWI for free after you finish your volunteer work with us. We hope that you share your experiences with friends and family, and you encourage them to join the adventure of a life time Volunteering in India.

Where do we work?

Presently we are working in the main local city area Jaipur and in its surroundings. Jaipur is the capital city of Desert state called Rajasthan. It’s is also know as Pink City. The city has maintained its traditions, culture and heritage for nearly three centuries of its existence. Neither very low temperature during cold winter months nor the scorching heat in the hottest summer months. Jaipur comes in the part of Northern India. Around 4.5 million people reside in Jaipur.

Who are we looking for?

The volunteers can be from all over the world. There is no any age limit to join the volunteer program. Participants main characteristic is the willingness to help. Our volunteers give their time and money to conserve and protect the environment, uplift and build positive communities, teach children, and promote health, education, and ecological awareness in India.

Why do I have to pay for my volunteering experience?

We do not have any financial support or funding of any kind, so volunteers have to fund their projects themselves. The money volunteers pay, allow us to provide them with all the support and services. Volunteers will work in places where they are really needed. Also our partners are non-profits organizations doing meaningful, much-needed work in their local communities in India; in addition, the amount of volunteer fees are used as a donation to these organizations to keep the projects running. The donations are used for the facilities which the communities need. The donations go to help schools that are in needed, and to other materials that the community requires, like computers, study materials, clothe, play materials, and food. The community people and staff are also supported by this donation.

Is it safe?

India is a very safe country. Indians are very friendly with foreigners, and treat them with respect. Many people will greet you throughout India with the phrase "Namaste" (hello); the most commonly spoken local language is Hindi.

Do I need a visa?

India has its own visa policies, and these policies vary according to the nationality of the visitor. For most countries you can get a tourist visa with little or no problem. You can apply with Tourist Visa and join our programs. There is a On Arrival Visa Facility also available at the Airports in India which you can get it for 30 days. We recommend checking online, or contact with the nearest Indian consulate for more information.
