About the program

Why is your program important? This program is important because you lead by example and volunteer your time to change our paradigm. The village of Puerto Misahualli needs support to one day become an Eco-responsible village

Which social issues do you face? The Napo region is confronted with the problem of gold mining concessions which destroy the ecosystems and have a negative impact on the social life of the population.
How do you try to solve these issues? We offer economic alternatives to the population : cocoa, beehive, creation of a nature reserve and observation of wild animals, we educate the youngest about the protection of their environment.

Your mission is to participate in a global ecological program on our farm in Ecuador in order to promote food self-sufficiency thanks to the five-hectare agroforestry cocoa plantation (with 800 cocoas and more than 3000 trees of a hundred different varieties), to preserve the fauna at through our melipone hives (bees that do not sting) and our wild animal transit refuge. You help raise awareness of nature protection among young Ecuadorians: You will participate in:
  • Feed the animals in the center of the refuge.
  • Plant so that there is food for the animals (self-sufficiency of the refuge): chonta, morete, ungurahua, etc.
  • Make cocoa seedlings and other plants for the nursery
  • Planting and transplanting seedlings, restoring flora in the village of Puerto Misahualli, especially in schools
  • Plant new species of plants like turmeric, ginger, pineapple, taro, cassava, etc. in the vegetable garden
  • Cut and weed around young trees
  • Make cuttings and mulch with different organic materials such as perennial cashew to enrich the soil for cocoa trees.
  • Maintaining the cocoa trees, harvesting - Vanilla maintenance - Collect seeds from endemic mother trees in the forest
  • Maintain the ponds and the stream
  • Realize the design "medicinal plants"
  • Carry out awareness workshops with the local population

Meet your organization

About us:
Founded in 2001, Trésor de Nature is an association whose objective is to protect and restore biodiversity while raising awareness among local populations about the preservation of their environment. It conducts its activities in France and at the gates of the Ecuadorian Amazon where it works to restore and conserve the forest on a 30-hectare site.

Our fight:
The association fights against deforestation and more generally against climate change. Indeed, Ecuador is the most biodiverse country in the world! However, intensive agriculture and the exploitation of minerals such as gold, endanger the habitat of fauna and flora... In order to fight against this trouble, Treasure of Nature buys forest land in order to protect. She created an agroforestry farm in Ecuador to restore and reforest soils damaged by intensive agriculture.
