    About the program

Eco Green Primary School opened its doors to students in the heart of a village where there are no primary schools in the vicinity.

We started building up a primary school from scratch because there was none around in the radius of 7 kilometers.  This means the children had to walk for 14 kilometers back and forth under the scorching heat without shoes. About the program

We started building up a primary school from scratch because there was none around in the radius of 7 kilometers.  This means the children had to walk for 14 kilometers back and forth under the scorching heat without shoes. It was  too stressful and discouraging to acquire education in this area. As a result, there is high rates of early marriages to older men and pregnancies for young girls and the vicious cycle continues. The illiteracy levels are high and the area is underdeveloped with no basic facilities in the vicinity.

The school started running in July 2021 and has a current enrollment of 190 pupils; grade 1-5 respectively.  We have completed the construction of six classrooms which are operational, kitchen and dining areas awaiting finishing.  The construction of the administration block and library is currently on-going.  This social enterprise is slowly but steadily changing the narrative of socio-edu-conomics perception in this area in the grand scale of things. Making education accessible is the greatest achievement and change driver in this era and its impact is tangible and intangible.  Schools open up areas through socio-economic activities, information and  knowledge.  Education is an equalizer and a pathway to sustainable development because it is a life-learning institution.

We are looking for volunteers to help us FINISH this project with a bang!!! We still have a library, ICT lab and arts theatre to build. Join us in doing a work out with a purpose through construction, landscaping and environmental  conservation activities.  We are open to sustainable ideas and initiatives. Let us know how you can help us realize this dream by joining us. Use your strength, time & skills to make a difference where it is much needed. We are open to innovation & creativity as we steer this ship forward.

Let us walk together to effect change in Mbogolo village. "When you learn teach, when get give" Maya Angelou

The school is located in the rural  which is about 10 kilometers away from the city where the volunteer house is.  Therefore, there is commuting to and from from Monday to Friday. The mode of transport is mainly motorbikes at a fee of 2.5 euros per day.

From day 1 I felt really welcomed. The community and kids are very kind and have big heart. Construction is a hard work but it's very nice to come every morning and see progress of your hard work. I definitely take value of water and food differently now. This project is the best thing what happened ...
The one month I spent in Malindi was one of my best experiences in my life. I got the opportunity to be part of a small community and everyone was so welcoming and helpful. I joined a construction project in Mbogolo village. Using concrete and steel we built a second classroom. I worked as one of the team members of the construction team of Mbogolo village. Climate is so hot and there is no machine, so it needs many activities. When I was in Kenya, we were constructing ...
