Review Description

  •  Who we are?
Tufahamiane, also known as Green Zanzibar, is a non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2004. We are driven by a dedicated women's group that has been actively advocating for environmental issues on Zanzibar for many years. Beyond our environmental efforts, we serve as a community hub not only for women but for families as well. We play a crucial role in women's empowerment, providing a platform for personal and collective growth.

  • What we do?
Our focus extends to implementing environmental projects that not only benefit the ecosystem but also serve as income-generating opportunities for women. By intertwining environmental conservation with economic empowerment, we contribute to fostering independence among women. Our projects are well-recognized throughout Zanzibar, and we continually develop new initiatives to address emerging challenges.

  • Where we work?
Our organization is based in Zanzibar, offering volunteers a unique opportunity to engage with the local community. The warm-hearted members of the women's group provide an immersive experience of Zanzibar's life. As a volunteer, you have the chance to make a significant contribution to the development of the local community.

  • Volunteer Contacts:
Our three points of contact are here to support volunteers every step of the way, ensuring that their experience is not only enriching but also effective:

Bi Talha not only represents the organization but is also the heart of our women's group. As an experienced member, she will introduce volunteers to village life, answer everyday questions, and provide insights into the diverse culture of Zanzibar.

Bonnie is the driving force behind our project activities. He will guide volunteers through specific tasks, coordinate projects, and is always open to exchanging ideas. His passion for implementing new concepts makes him an enthusiastic mentor for creative approaches.

Jonas serves as a bridge between both worlds. Operating from Europe, he assists volunteers with travel preparations and offers advisory support. His intercultural competence helps build bridges between different backgrounds, ensuring smooth collaboration.

These contacts not only embody the structure of our organization but are also personally committed to ensuring that volunteers not only fulfill tasks but also have a profound and positive experience within our community.

I was able to discuss these with Jonas at any time and in detail; he always responded to my inquiries promptly. When I arrived ...
