Pharmacy and dispensary volunteers play a very supportive role to support professional pharmacist attend to the medical needs of patients in our hospitals and local community pharmacy and drug shops.
This program is very important for both students and professionals to help them in their academic and career pursuit. Volunteers who are students learning to become pharmacist or dispensary technicians are encouraged to take up this project since they get to work with qualified and certified professionals who they can learn from to help them in their academics. Volunteers who are already certifies and professionals can gain more insight sharing and comparing ideas with other professionals.
Volunteers will be involve in doing some of these task and more and may sometimes find themselves at the wards attending to patient.
* Dispensing and managing medications and ensuring patients take the right dosage and treatment.
*Assisting in prescriptions of volunteers.
*Assist in medication reconciliation, monitoring, education and promoting safe and effective use.
*Assist in counseling and educating patient and individuals on proper medication use, side effects etc.
*Assist in giving vaccines and promoting immunization.
*Assist in community outreach on drug and substance abuse
*Helps in the formulation of drugs.
Volunteers using this project for internship or elective school work must apply early to help us assign you to a supervisor and get you all the details to fill your school elective forms.
Volunteers must come with their hospital scrubs, and any other working tool that they think they may need. Volunteers can work at the refugee camp hospital and clinics, in Accra and other surrendering community clinics. After working hours volunteers may also opt to volunteer a few hours at the local drug or pharmacy shop in around their accommodation
