About the program

Background

In rural areas, early childhood care and education job is done by local childcare centers called (Anganwadi). Our aim is to support these local child care center is to give them right and good education. The word Anganwadi means “courtyard shelter” in Indian languages. A typical Anganwadi center also provides basic health care in Indian villages. It is a part of the Indian public health-care system. Basic health-care activities include contraceptive counseling and supply, nutrition education and supplementation, as well as Pre school activities.Volunteers will work with local child care centers, having 10 to 15 small children, having age 3 to 5 years . We provide all teaching and helping materials to our volunteers.

Volunteer Role

With the help of our volunteers, we try to help these child care centers to improve their standard about education and basic health care in villages . Volunteers will help local teachers to teach basic Grammar, rihms, poems, alphabets, counting, writing, fruits names, body part names and also provide health knowledge like, wash hands before eating. Volunteers support the day to day running of these placement and may be involved in , creating and education activities , arts and crafts sessions, organising group games , songs and sports , running one-to-one lessons with the older children , assisting the day care staff with meal times .

Why Volunteers are needed

The nurseries and child care centres have limited staff and resources so volunteers are able to help support the local staff and provide focused educational assistance to the children . Volunteers work act as positive role models for the children, inspiring a passion to learn and developing creative thinking. The interaction with volunteers will naturally improve the children's English but will also improve the children's confidence and small group work helps to increase their self-esteem.

About Us

Believing in “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam”, which implies that the whole world is one family. The aim of launching Dharamshala Volunteering and Travel Solutions is to provide cross culture experience with travel and volunteering opportunities to international volunteers. Dharamshala Volunteering and Travel Solutions works to serve people who are living in rural villages of Dharamshala in the best possible ways. We have previously worked as Pari Volunteerism Services with 9+ years of experience. Our priority is to provide safe volunteering and travelling programs to our volunteers.

The Location

We are working in Dharamshala , the home town of the DALAI LAMA. Dharamshala is situated in north India in the state of Himachal Pradesh. All the programs are arranged by us in rural areas of Dharamshala and our motive and aim is to give education to poor children and decrease the gap between rich and poor people of rural Himachal. All these programs are organized by us in the range of 10 to 25 kms of Dharamshala Town. Volunteers can join our programs for a minimum stay of 2 weeks and a maximum stay of 12 weeks which are running the whole year. Students, volunteers, couples, everyone who wants to enjoy this combination of volunteering and travelling are welcome.

2022 at Renovating of Community Houses

Although it can be terrifying to go to a place by yourself, I felt safe with Mohinder and Avneesh after the first day! I loved the painting in the school, the trips in the car and the food that has ruined my own cooking forever. I will miss the dogs, Mohinder's ringtone, the day and weekend trips ...
