About the program

Through this volunteering program, you can help young Kenyan mothers fight systematic and cultural barriers that prevent them from being successful.

In Kenya, as in many parts of the world, women suffer a lot of gender discrimination in all aspects of their lives: they cannot access equal opportunities, cannot get land or a passport without their partners. About the program

In Kenya, as in many parts of the world, women suffer a lot of gender discrimination in all aspects of their lives: they cannot access equal opportunities, cannot get land or a passport without their partners. They can't get permission, can't go to school, etc. These cultural, economic, social and structural barriers actively oppress women and prevent them from achieving success.
Through this volunteer project and your support, we strive to empower young mothers by creating safe spaces for women in communities of social exclusion and limited resources, where they can feel comfortable, express themselves, plan for the future and gain confidence and self-esteem. This project involves the entire community of Soweto, where you will be working, because only in this way will it be possible to improve the environment in which these women live.

As a volunteer, some of the tasks you can perform are:

  • Giving workshops on topics such as domestic violence, drug abuse, disease and other topical issues
  • Supporting local sewing and embroidery workshops
  • Giving classes in subjects such as English, mathematics or computer use
  • Creating didactic and educational activities
  • Among many other tasks that may arise depending on the specific needs of the center at the time of your arrival.

Your main objective as a volunteer will be to empower these women and help them increase their self-esteem and confidence.

Meet your organization

ADVENTURE VOLUNTEER is a non-profit organization, established in 2017. We collaborate in the social and environmental field through projects of conservation and protection of the environment and animals, as well as in the social part through projects of empowerment of women, community development, functional diversity, medical or teaching.

Our team of collaborators has a deep experience in international volunteer programs.  We know all the realities of the areas where we are working, collaborating and where we have a presence.

Our projects offer volunteers the opportunity to meet, share and participate in social and environmental projects. These projects demand educational and recreational activities that benefit communities of different cultures and customs, communities with economic difficulties and different degrees of social exclusion.
